Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
