19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
